Take me with you to Lagos in December

As the festive season draws to a close and we shimmy into the new year, I think it’s only right I submit my Christmas wish for 2025, early. I hope to return to this post with a 360-degree update on how my plea was answered. I want to attend Detty December 2025 in Lagos with a playmate. A lady of the sun, I envied all the content of what is to be enjoyed in the motherland during the festive season. An avid reader, my skin craves to soak up the sun whilst my eyes devour literature. A question that plagues me is whether I will view Lagos in the literal sense since reading Vagabonds by Eloghosa Osunde. Being a frequent visitor to Nigeria, I was especially sad that I could not participate this year. I want to cross off a trip to Nigeria with a playmate instead of travelling alone. I desire the company of someone knowledgeable about Nigeria and who enjoys the cuisine as much as I do. First stop? Black Pepper to cool down and fuel up after a long flight from the UK. I enjoyed my moonlight dinner there during my last trip. I require a playmate who can entertain a restless kitten like myself. As much as the Lagos nightlife is calling my name, I am more interested in Yoruba culture and religion and hope to delve deep during this rendezvous. The last prong of my wish letter is to dive into Lagosian fashion. The Nigerian fashion landscape is booming in more ways than is credited. I would love to use this opportunity to learn about craftsmanship and pick up a few pieces myself. I was lucky to lay my hands on the coveted brown Mairachamp bag I will sport upon my return.

Lastly, there is nothing I miss more than feasting my eyes on the exotic plantlife. Creation is wonderful.

I look forward to hearing from you, my Lagosian playmate.

Till then, I’m trudging through the emotive read that is An Orchestra of Minorities by Chigozie Obioma. Has anyone read it?
